tales from the greenhouse - Page 2 Empty tales from the greenhouse

First topic message reminder :

After noticing bird poo in my plants, I thought to myself " oh dear, i must have left the greenhouse door open " note to oneself, keep it closed, So imagine my surprise when I see 3 black bird fledglings trapped in the greenhouse, They had got in via the hedgehog hatch and could not find their way out, So now I have a new job, greenhouse door man, I've put a sliding door over the hedgehog hatch and only open it at dusk, then shut it again before I go to bed ensuring the hedgehog is not inside,
Once inside the birds go crazy because they can't work out why, they see the sky but when taking to the wings, they hit a barrier ( glass), So this is very stressful for them as they don't understand, I'm trying to help them out,
Todays job, work out a device to stop the birds getting in but allowing the hedgehog access,

any ideas ?

great minds think alike, yesterday I did just that and last night Prickes went in the greenhouse and did his job, the only problem was, he did't shut the door and there were 4 blackbirds in the greenhouse this morn, So there's only one thig to do, block off the hatch during the day, open it at dusk and close it again just before my bed time, 11.30 pm and check pickles has left the bulding,

Am surprised pickles managed to get out. How about a partially buried piece of waste pipe, maybe 10 inches or so?

Anyroadup, that soil pipe will be too slippy for hedgehogs. Cardboard will be nicer on t'feet for him!   Rolling Eyes

That twin connector would've been ideal for him.  He could choose which way to go, best of two!

I meant partially buried with soil inside the pipe to stay level with the earth outside. That way pickles will be able to strut his stuff as he casuallyshimmies his way through the tunnel

anyway, the new ' doorman' system is working well, after his patrol in the greenhouse, I blocked the entrance and there were no birds in the greenhouse this morn, The waste pipe idea is good so, I'll rig up a trail chuck, semi bury a lenght and put mealworm inside, Then see if the birds can get and, then film at night to see if Prickles likes it, tales from the greenhouse - Page 2 709307421
