tales from the greenhouse Empty tales from the greenhouse

Wed Apr 14 2021, 09:22
After noticing bird poo in my plants, I thought to myself " oh dear, i must have left the greenhouse door open " note to oneself, keep it closed, So imagine my surprise when I see 3 black bird fledglings trapped in the greenhouse, They had got in via the hedgehog hatch and could not find their way out, So now I have a new job, greenhouse door man, I've put a sliding door over the hedgehog hatch and only open it at dusk, then shut it again before I go to bed ensuring the hedgehog is not inside,
Once inside the birds go crazy because they can't work out why, they see the sky but when taking to the wings, they hit a barrier ( glass), So this is very stressful for them as they don't understand, I'm trying to help them out,
Todays job, work out a device to stop the birds getting in but allowing the hedgehog access,

any ideas ?

working off Macs idea I made a hog flap out of a bit of foam cut off a kneeler i have, I'm hoping the bird brained fledglings will not have the strength to push it open but the hedgehog will, Its undergoing field trials right now,

Dracula simia, called also monkey orchid or the monkey-like Dracula, is an epiphytic orchid originally described in the genus Masdevallia, but later moved to the genus Dracula. The arrangement of column, petals and lip strongly resembles a monkey's face.
