Very good. the old courts (referring to the fact neither they, nor the building, are no longer there), is vacant land now, I think the council still own it?
Next to the Police station would be a better location. (The one on Robin park Rd for the pedants).

No. Pie and peas, unusual but most agreeable after a drink or two.

Wouldn't know, the ale was paid for plus free wine/vinegar.
Toilet facilities could have been better though, the smell of damp permeated most of the rooms too.

It's off the net, Mac.

It was a very nice venue and a very atmospheric room, there was a large rock party going on further down the street in another part of the courts. The young people seemed to be enjoying themselves in there as we left around midnight.

Look what someone has posted on the Wigan Evening Post comments ........
"WIGAN'S sharing of emergency services headquarters could be a template followed across the country "
Wigan? Followed across the country? Utter rubbish!
Wigan is at least three years behind St.Helens ........
http://www.estates.nwas.nhs.uk/local-updates/newton-le-willows,-merseyside/#.VrD4VLKLTIU
And Southport ......
http://www.itv.com/news/granada/2013-10-11/largest-fire-station-building-project-in-the-north-west-completed/
The small-minded Wiganers will believe anything they're told!

It would great to see Fire and Ambulance together in one unit, together with the Police, Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury's and the local library.
Just kiddin'...it does sound good.

A ceremony is to be held later this month to mark the official start to construction of Wigan’s pioneering joint fire and ambulance base.
Drove past earlier, the steelwork is up in parts and there is a staircase fitted already.

Building work is progressing well on Wigan’s new community fire and ambulance station. The structure of the building is now clear to see as the construction work continues on the pioneering hub on Robin Park Road in Newtown. Work started on the site last year following the demolition of the former fire headquarters. Greater Manchester Fire And Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service’s joint venture with the contractor Willmott Dixon is on track to be completed in time for the station to open this summer. Firefighters and paramedics will work there side by side when the new combined station opens its doors. The current Wigan ambulance station on Pottery Road will then close.

According to the Oxford Dictionary - Pioneering - VERB :- To develop or be the first to use or apply (new method, area of knowledge, or activity):
Now then. Newton le Willows has had a combined Fire and Ambulance Station for years. And so has Southport. And, do you know what? They weren't the first!
