I've mixed it up with the one that was near Varty's Funeral place.
I think it was The Fox, anyroad, that's the one that's shut down.

Hello mester Joseph ( am I allowed to call you that) spent many a happy Sunday
afternoon in the Fox , squirrel and engineers, engineers did one of the best pints

Yes it was, Ray, gone forever.
Howdo Gassey, aye, Th'engine was one of the best pints around at one time, only a little pub in comparison, but what an atmosphere. Always put a good do on at pastimes, New Year and the like. Some of them big pit men didn't mind a fight either if anyone started to get stroppy.

I returned from Canada after about 8 years in 1973 and couldn't wait for a pint of best British. So, I went to the Travellers Rest in Pem (Orrell for Tonks) and supped a pint of bitter.....
Bloody awful.....
At the time I didn't realise that different pubs looked after their ale in differing ways.
The bitter tasted like soap/dish water and I was so surprised as I had this image of a beautiful pint in England.
I have learned since....

Ah the memories.
Greenall Whitley was a good pint if - and this is the important bit - you could find the right pub. The Forresters at Almond Brook was one such.
