Your thoughts, Wigan Market Hall..1962

Do you remember this Market Hall in the early sixties???

I do..I worked there as a butcher's apprentice..

My God, It was amazing...the people were the best...Sorry, but not seen today....Sadly....

What say you though...????

Not for me. I was 12, and I must have been in the old market at least twice a week.

I've asked this question before. Just to the right of Makinsons Arcade entrance my memory is telling me that there was a basket weaving place. Does anyone remember it?

Sorry, don't remember the basket weaving place but I do remember having great fish and chips from that chippy.

Thought it would have been on this thread, but it isn't.

Yes, I think it was Gassey.

The passageway after the chippy took you down to the Casino.

I remember (the rumour) that the owner of the Chippy won tSpot the Ball, yet the Monday after, there he was, frying chips.

Don't remind me. There were some dark corners down there, you got sort of sidetracked when you walked down to the Newway Café, from the Millgate Café.

ooooooowwww you little.   The Newway was a fav haunt of mine.

We mainly went in the Millgate, but the funny thing is that my Husband now, went in the New way.

Small world. My cousin was proprietor of the new way for few years

A girl from Whelley was murdered in Wigan one Saturday night in the late 1980's and she worked at that chippy.
