Manning was top of the bill when we played at Newton cricket clubs centenary about fifty years ago.He was hilarious but i'm sure he wouldn't get away with it now.

Why did we allow all and sundry to decide what was funny and what wasn’t. As far as I know it wasn’t compulsory to go to a Bernard Manning evening or the Embassy Club. If you liked him, and his brand of comedy, then you buy a ticket. If you don’t stay at home and watch Jess Yates.
