Giz some when they are ready. I like a tomato, the dog loves a tomato. Others like a lemon.

Just been to the sunless corner of my backyard. The ice is thicker than a dockers wallet. I only garden for aesthetic qualities. I don’t do any foodstuffs just plants and flowers. 50/50 between perennial and annual. Even though I say it myself it is very beautiful some years. Been poor last couple of years so I used Shrimp Cocktail compost to try to put nutrients into the soil. I also put six large bags of mulched leaves on there for the same purpose. The ice has melted on most of that and it looks a soggy mess. Someone advised me the nutrients will be released once they defrost. We shall see.

Leaf mulch is brilliant for the borders. Keep collected fallen leaves for two years on a bin bag and you have a marvellous source of nutrients for the plants

I collect nettles in May, From the woods, only get the leaves and not the seeds, put them in a bucket and fill the bucket with water, if its a dry spell keep topping the bucket up with water, after a while it will stink to high heaven, Thats when its ripe to put on your garden, the finest plant food available for free,
