Use about 3 or 4 and nail them into the base where it comes out of the ground
There are some weed killers that will work but they are banned, however they can be bought for other uses sadly I've forgot the name but I shall ask my brother in law, he used it to kill that horsetail stuff

Ta, I'll tell my neighbour about the nails and weedkiller.At the end of the day it's his responsibility.I've just been out to have another look, it's crept up on my fence

The one that I have in my back garden is home to about half a dozen Wrens, so it shall stay but I do curb its direction

knocking copper nails into trees stops regrowth, and it lightning hits, it splits the tree. Removing a 2" strip of bark from the tree kills it.
